This body of work begins with family history and uses it to examine the effects of poverty, patriarchy, and white supremacy on daily life. It considers how these forces shape what is remembered, normalized, withheld, and passed on. The work stays close to the personal without treating the personal as separate from history.

Such Could I Be
Such Could I Be uses sugar as both material and symbol, tracing its relationship to enslavement, poverty, white supremacy, and the institutions that sustained their violence. Through this history, the work considers my own position within whiteness and the conditions under which its power, brutality, and inheritance become possible.
